Our NGO called the Forest and Wildlife Foundation started the restoration effort at Kadbanwadi active help from local villagers spear headed by Mr. Bhajandas Pawar and Mr. Satish Gawade. Forest department allocated two plots Gat 204 and 240 totaling to about 20 acres. We planted 400 saplings of 6 different local species of indigenous trees, 100 Wad, 100 Pimple, 75 Chinch, 75 Jamun,25 Bahawa, and 25 Karanj. We bought 3 to 4 year old saplings from Gajara nursery in Nandur near Shajpur at a total cost of Rs. 1,00,000 0N 29th of August 2020. We decided to call this biodiversity park as Oxygen park 1. Satish Gawade allowed us source Water for drip irrigation from his well. Baburao Gawade’s house was there to welcome us and provide lunch and tea. Bhajandas Pawar arranged for JCB to dig pits, and provided pipes for supplying drip irrigation to all 400 trees. Namdev Gawade helped us by supplying a cart load of ghan Jivamrut ( a mixture of cow dung, jaggery and gram flour). This photo shows pits ready for plantation.
A neighbouring farmer Arjun Gawade promised to ensure that no grazing takes place in oxygen park 1. It indeed was an enriching and rewarding experience to work together with locale populace to turn a degraded forest land and to revive nature.
All trees grew very well. Around and under the trees different grasses and plants came up by themselves. We also gave second dose of Ghan Jeevamrut and provided mulch near the stem. See the grass under the feet of Bhajandaas and Arjun Gavade. Arjun stays on the brink of Oxygen Park 1 and ensures that no grazing takes place here. We are so thankful to him for the growth of grass on this patch of land
